Bio: Sean was introduced to CrossFit when a couple of inline hockey buddies invited him to drop-in for a free trial at their gym. The workout that day turned out to be Helen, a classic Benchmark workout. Over the next 16 minutes, as he made his way through the 3 rounds of 400m runs, 21 kettlebell swings, and 12 pull-ups, Sean learned about pacing, muscle fatigue, setting realistic expectations, and checking your ego at the door. Regulars in the class ran consistent 400’s and performed unbroken sets of Kettlebell swings and kipping pull-ups. Unwisely, Sean tried to match their pace and performance. He went out too hot on the first run, too unbroken on the kettlebell, and strict on the pull-ups. By the final round he had to walk part of the run, lost his grip and had multiple unplanned breaks on the kettlebell, and struggled through small sets of banded pull-ups. His first crash and burn. This was a humbling, yet eye opening, experience. Defeating and promising at the same time. That was CrossFit day one at the end of 2011. Fast forward to today. As a CrossFit Level 3 Trainer, a USAW certified weightlifting coach, former Masters CF Games Athlete and one of the owners of Lost Coast CrossFit, Sean has adapted and grown with the CrossFit methodology, meeting each athlete where they are today, and guiding them on the journey to where they want to be.

Bio: Jessica began her CrossFit journey in 2012 at CrossFit Eureka before joining Humboldt CrossFit in 2015 where she continued until it closed its doors in late 2022. She then partnered with fellow former HCF members, Sean Marsh and Jerry Yang, to open Lost Coast CrossFit in September of 2022.
A wildlife biologist by profession, Jessica loves science and observing data change over time. This background pairs well with her passion for fitness and the inherent beauty in realizing measurable results in direct correlation with putting in work at the gym and fueling your body for performance.
Jessica also appreciates the methodology of CrossFit, incorporating constantly varied functional movements that can be scaled to appropriately address the needs of every client, regardless of current fitness level and with consideration of injury, mobility, or other physical challenges. In particular, she loves that there is always more to strive for in CrossFit – it is an ever-evolving quest to get stronger, perfect lifting technique and gymnastics skills, improve cardio endurance and to develop and maintain increased mobility. Most importantly, the camaraderie and friendships developed within the CrossFit community, born out of the shared experience of digging deep through challenging workouts in the gym, keep her excited to put in the work both as a coach and fellow gym member.
Jessica’s certifications include CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, Advanced Judges Certificate and CrossFit for the Aging Athlete. She also provides personal training with a focus on addressing existing injuries, health conditions, and other physical challenges

Bio: Jerry is a Level 1 CrossFit coach and founding member of Lost Coast CrossFit. He has been CrossFitting since 2013 where he began his fitness journey at Humboldt CrossFit before partnering to open Lost Coast CrossFit in September of 2022 before stepping away as an owner to focus on coaching in 2025.
Jerry appreciates the fitness gains the CrossFit methodology has helped him to achieve and enjoys sharing what he has learned with other athletes to help them progress their own functional fitness goals. He particularly gravitates toward olympic lifting and gymnastics skill work but loves all facets of CrossFit training.
It is the amazing gym community at LCCF that keeps him coming to the gym to train and coach daily and, as with most LCCF athletes, the gym represents the highlight of his day, be it as a coach or as a member.

Bio: I am humbled to not only be a part of the CrossFit community, but also a Level 1 CrossFit Coach in Humboldt County. I have been blessed to have a family that taught me the importance of good health, building strength, and practicing good body mechanics. I will never forget my grandfather with his old Weider bench and iron weights in the backyard, always encouraging and willing to teach us. I share that love of fitness with my husband, children and now grandchildren. Some of the most memorable fitness experiences to date are of competing with them in local competitions.
I started my journey in CrossFit in 2012 and have never looked back. I love to share not only my journey, but my knowledge and experience to help others achieve a healthier, happier, functional mind and body. CrossFit lends a mental aspect of pushing yourself beyond your perceived limitations and succeeding in ways you never thought possible, which becomes an instrumental part of your everyday life even outside the gym. CrossFit works for everyone, and, as a coach, I believe in the importance of adhering to the methodology to ensure each athlete continues to thrive.
I absolutely love watching people grow and experience their own success with such a supportive family. Experience the MAGIC of CrossFit, come on down and LIFT with us!

Bio: When I started CrossFit in 2015, it was to improve my physical capacity as a surfer and scuba instructor. I did not know the extent to which this decision would alter the course of my life.
The pursuit of fitness within the gym has become a means for long-term health and happiness outside the gym. I greatly value the neurological adaptations of exercise and the potential to cast those skills, confidence, and mental focus into other aspects of our lives.
As a teacher and freshly-minted CF-L1 Trainer, I enthusiastically approach coaching and learning from our community.

Bio: Lost Coast CrossFit Friends,
I have a few loves: my husband, family, all animals, and CrossFit.
Fitness and sports have always played a significant role in my life. As a kid, my parents pushed me to be active. I did powerlifting with my dad and horseback riding with my Mom. In college, I played rugby and did Olympic weightlifting. After college, I struggled to find my sport and tried everything from tennis to triathlons. Then, I took my first CrossFit class in 2012 and have never looked back. I fell in love with everything about CrossFit, the unique approach to fitness that emphasizes strength, gymnastics, and aerobic conditioning. I love that by combining all aspects of fitness, we all get to be good at something but not everything. I love that by suffering together, we become a community. I love that within this community, I have found my family, not just a sport.
